Background and experience
I have over 14 years’ experience working in the field of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I worked in primary care mental health services providing evidenced-based therapeutic interventions to adults with depression and anxiety disorders. As part of this role, I obtained postgraduate qualifications in Advanced Practice Interventions for Mental Health and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2016 I have gained specialist academic qualifications and experience in Clinical Neuropsychology. In my current role at Salford Royal Hospital, I routinely carry out comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, rehabilitation and therapeutic interventions with people who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, as well as a range of neurological (epilepsy, stroke, tumour, encephalitis, Tourette’s syndrome etc.) and neurodegenerative conditions (Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, dementias etc.) I have a special interest in epilepsy and routinely assess patients being considered for epilepsy surgery. I also provide therapeutic input to patients with functional neurological disorders such as non-epileptic attack disorder/dissociative seizures.
I have a keen interest in research, having previously worked on a large multi-site randomised control trial investigating collaborative interventions for patients with chronic physical health conditions and depression in conjunction with colleagues at The University of Manchester. I have also published papers on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation in chronic physical health conditions.
I teach and provide clinical placements and supervision to doctoral trainees on North West Clinical Psychology teaching courses.
